Chase Bryant, known for his hit “Little Bit of You,” has drawn deeply from his past for his latest EP, Cayo del Grullo. The new release marks a significant chapter in Bryant’s life and career, capturing his reflections before leaving Texas.
Bryant, 31, reminisces about his grandparents’ pool house, a cherished spot where he honed his pool skills and enjoyed time with farm workers from Mexico. During the pandemic, he returned to this beloved location to record Cayo del Grullo, his third EP in a five-part series exploring pivotal places in his life.
Named after Baffin Bay near his grandparents’ farm, Cayo del Grullo was largely recorded in a makeshift studio within the pool house and garage, with only a few elements added in Nashville. Bryant describes the process as a tribute to his love for Texas and the house that shaped his early musical experiences.
The EP features collaborations with notable musicians Chad Cromwell, Craig Young, and Bryan Sutton, adding to its authentic and organic feel. As Bryant prepares for a new chapter with his upcoming move to Charleston and the anticipation of his first child with wife Selena Weber Bryant, the emotional depth of songs like “Love You My Whole Life” gains added significance.
