Kanye West Finds Buyer for Malibu Beachfront Property

Kanye West has secured a buyer for his Malibu beachfront home, which he extensively renovated and then listed for sale. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the property is currently in escrow as the sale progresses. The deal was facilitated by Jason Oppenheim of the Oppenheim Group.

West initially listed the property for $53 million (£41.4 million) but later reduced the asking price to $39 million (£30.5 million) in April. The house, designed by renowned architect Tadao Ando and constructed about a decade ago, was purchased by West in 2021. Since then, West removed all the interior finishes, requiring the new owner to invest significantly in restoring it to a livable condition.

Oppenheim highlighted the unique aspects of the property when it was first listed. “What’s missing are the interiors,” he told The Hollywood Reporter in December. “It’s priced to reflect the need for the interior finishes to be replaced. On the positive side, it can be updated to 2024 standards—it was built about 10 years ago.” He also emphasized that the home’s architectural integrity, particularly Ando’s notable concrete work, remains intact and contributes to the property’s value.

The sale faced delays due to legal issues related to unpaid work. A contractor had claimed over $1 million (£780,000) in outstanding payments for work performed on the property. However, this issue appears to have been resolved, allowing the sale to move forward.

The four-bedroom, 4,000-square-foot home boasts panoramic Pacific Ocean views from every room, making it a highly sought-after piece of real estate.
