During her recent concert in Munich, Adele took an unexpected break to celebrate the women’s 100 metre final at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. The British singer halted her performance to show the race on a large screen for the audience at her 10-night residency at the custom-built Adele Arena.

The crowd, numbering over 75,000, watched in silence as Julien Alfred from Saint Lucia won the gold medal, marking the island’s first-ever Olympic gold. US athletes Sha’Carri Richardson and Melissa Jefferson secured silver and bronze, respectively. Following the race, Adele enthusiastically addressed the audience: “Let’s give her a round of applause! Fantastic, Saint Lucia!”

Adele’s admiration for the Olympic athletes was evident throughout her residency. On the opening night of her Munich residency, she humorously remarked on the performance of the athletes, saying, “While I was watching world-class athletes, I’d be like, ‘Oh, that landing was a bit dodgy, wasn’t it? Oh, her legs weren’t really straight.’ Meanwhile, if I tried anything that they do, I’d be dead.”

Additionally, Adele paid tribute to US gymnast Simone Biles during the concert, praising her for winning multiple gold medals and calling her “absolutely brilliant.”
