K-pop singer Kotoko was hospitalized after fainting onstage during the ‘Midsummer Night’s Cultural Festival: Mini K-POP Concert’ in Haenam, South Korea, on August 3. The incident raised concerns among fans, but the 16-year-old UNIS member has reassured her followers of her recovery.
Kotoko addressed her fans on Weverse, stating in a translated post: “My physical strength has greatly improved through rest and stability, so you don’t need to worry. I’ll work hard to maintain my stamina. Thank you for your concern […] I’m all better.”
Her management company, F and F Entertainment, confirmed that Kotoko was examined and is currently resting at the hospital. The label apologized for the concern caused and emphasized their commitment to prioritizing the artist’s health.
In related news, BLACKPINK’s Jennie recently faced backlash after a video surfaced showing her vaping indoors. The 28-year-old singer had previously discussed the strict regulations South Korean stars face, including prohibitions on alcohol, smoking, and tattoos, in the 2020 Netflix documentary Blackpink: Light Up the Sky. Jennie expressed that the restrictions are stringent and challenging to adhere to.
Following the release of the live social media clip on July 2, Jennie’s personal label, OA Entertainment, issued an apology. The statement read: “We sincerely apologize to everyone who felt uncomfortable with Jennie’s actions in the content released on the 2nd. Jennie acknowledges and deeply regrets her mistake of vaping indoors and causing inconvenience to the staff. She has personally apologized to all the staff on-site who may have been affected. We apologize to her fans who have been disappointed by this incident and hope to prevent such occurrences in the future.”
