Navy’s Country Music Band to Hit Maine for National Tour

The U.S. Navy Band Country Current, the Navy’s premier country and bluegrass ensemble, will launch its 2024 national tour in Maine starting August 25. This acclaimed seven-member group will present a series of free performances across the state, although some events may require ticket reservations. The ensemble’s Maine tour schedule is as follows:

August 25, 3 p.m. – Memorial Park, 19 Bow St., Freeport

August 26, 7 p.m. – Lawrence High School, 9 School St., Fairfield

August 27, 7 p.m. – Le Club Calumet, 334 West River Rd., Augusta

August 28, 7 p.m. – Bar Harbor Village Green, 50 Public Works Way, Bar Harbor

August 29, 7 p.m. – Boothbay Opera House, 86 Townsend Ave., Boothbay Harbor

These performances are designed to be family-friendly, showcasing the band’s impressive musical range and instilling national pride. “Touring allows us to connect with communities and share the inspiring stories of our Sailors who safeguard our freedoms,” said Cmdr. Robert “Seph” Coats, commanding officer of the U.S. Navy Band.

Known for their versatility and skill, Country Current blends modern country music with innovative bluegrass. The ensemble features musicians with extensive experience from Nashville, New York, New Orleans, and beyond, each adept at playing multiple instruments. “We perform both contemporary hits and timeless classics that resonate with true country music enthusiasts,” added Musician 1st Class Patrick McAvinue, one of the group’s music directors.
