Dr. Dre has opened up about his recent collaboration with Snoop Dogg for the Paris 2024 Olympics, describing their on-stage synergy as “magical.” In an interview with ET Online, Dre, 59, expressed how his comfort and confidence on stage are deeply connected to performing with Snoop Dogg.
“It’s magical. I don’t even feel comfortable performing without Snoop,” Dre said. “There’s something about the synergy that me and Snoop have that’s really interesting.”
The two longtime friends and collaborators featured in a pre-recorded performance during the Olympics’ closing ceremony, where they performed their iconic track “The Next Episode.” Dre highlighted the dynamic of their partnership, noting that Snoop Dogg, 52, takes center stage in their live performances. “Really, Snoop, he’s the superstar,” Dre admitted. “I’m the co-star when we get on stage. It’s different when we’re in the studio. I’m the captain there, but when we perform, Snoop is the guy.”
Dre also revealed that the performance was recorded just a day before it aired. “It was filmed the day before it aired,” he explained. “Trying to keep that a secret for that amount of time seemed like it would’ve been impossible, but the Olympic Committee made it happen!”
