During the initial week of rehearsals for “Cirque du Soleil Songblazers,” Texas singer-songwriter Allora Leonard found herself in an unusual position—hanging upside down from a strongman while playing her guitar. Despite the dramatic stunt not making it into the final show, Leonard remains enthusiastic about the experience.

“It was quite a challenge,” Leonard remarked. “Not just hanging there, but the whole process of getting into position was interesting. We still have some really exciting elements in the show.”

Leonard, originally from Hondo and now based in Fredericksburg, is hitting the road with the latest Cirque du Soleil production. The show will perform at San Antonio’s Majestic Theatre for a five-day engagement starting August 21.

The Majestic holds special significance for Leonard, who recalls seeing her first musical, “Beauty and the Beast,” there as a child. “I spent years watching performances and dreaming of being on that stage,” she said. “So, when I saw we were scheduled to perform at the Majestic, it felt like a full-circle moment for that little girl who once watched in awe.”
