Country music icon Garth Brooks, known for his record-breaking album sales and sold-out stadium shows, once experienced a brief and unexpected departure from Nashville. Despite his monumental success, Brooks revealed that he left Music City within the first 24 hours during his initial visit.
Brooks, who first gained prominence with his debut single in March 1989 and followed up with his first No. 1 hit, “If Tomorrow Never Comes,” in August, shared this anecdote during an appearance on Music City Tonight. At the time, he was promoting his self-titled debut album and reflecting on his early career.
Despite his later accomplishments, including a successful bar in Nashville, Brooks’ first encounter with the city was notably short-lived.
