The Doobie Brothers continue their musical journey, marking their 54th year since forming in San Jose, California, and celebrating their 50th anniversary with an ongoing tour. The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees from the class of 2020 will perform at Blossom Music Center on Thursday, August 22, as part of their extensive tour.

The current lineup features co-founders Tom Johnston and Patrick Simmons, alongside longtime member John McFee and Michael McDonald, who contributed to the band’s Grammy-winning album “Minute By Minute” in 1978. Their legacy includes 15 albums, seven of which are platinum, and iconic hits such as “Listen to the Music,” “China Grove,” and “What a Fool Believes.”

In recent years, the Doobies have been as active as during their 70s heyday. They released their first album in seven years, “Liberte,” in 2021. Johnston and Simmons co-authored a memoir titled “Long Train Runnin’: Our Story of the Doobie Brothers,” while McDonald published his own memoir, “What a Fool Believes: A Memoir,” co-written with Paul Reiser. The band is also working on a new album and has extended their tour into October, keeping their momentum going strong.
