The Lasso Montreal festival is in full swing, and Quebec’s own Matt Lang is ready to make his mark at the event. Lang, a native of Maniwaki, will perform at Parc Jean Drapeau on Saturday.

In a recent interview with CityNews, Lang promised a high-energy show. “I’m going to shake my mullet for you guys, so you have to be there,” the singer-songwriter said.

Lang, who grew up nearly 300 kilometers northwest of Montreal, has always aspired to infuse a bit of Nashville into Quebec’s music scene. “My dream was to dive into country music. Growing up, my family and I would listen to country tunes during our fishing and hunting trips. That’s why I’m doing this today—because I love it,” Lang explained. He previously recorded French-language music but now focuses on his passion for country.

In 2018, Lang ventured to Nashville to record his first English-language album despite not speaking English at the time. “Learning English was the biggest challenge of my life. Once I mastered the language, I pursued my goal of becoming a country artist, and I achieved it,” Lang reflected.

Lang, who previously performed at the inaugural Lasso Montreal festival in 2022, is now taking on the role of the festival’s spokesperson. “It’s my first time as a spokesperson, and I feel both lucky and excited,” he said.

For Lang, country music embodies the essence of life. “It’s about love, road trips, family, and friends. It’s everything to me,” he added.

Don’t miss Lang’s performance this Saturday for a memorable show. “It’s going to be a huge party, and you won’t want to miss it,” he promised.
