Country music artist Jimmy Charles, a proud Maryland native, has unveiled the music video for his latest single, “Back to Baltimore.” The song is a heartfelt tribute to his roots, reflecting his deep connection to Maryland, despite his current residence in Nashville.
In an exclusive interview, Charles shared the inspiration behind the song and his journey from the Eastern Shore to the country music scene. “There’s no place like home,” he said, capturing the sentiment that led him to pen this ode to Baltimore.
Raised in Worcester County and an alumnus of Stephen Decatur High School, Charles later attended Towson University. His love for Maryland is evident in “Back to Baltimore,” a song that resonates even more following the recent collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge, a beloved Baltimore landmark.
“Faces of people I adore, it’s getting harder to ignore, never been so sure, just gotta go back to Baltimore,” Charles sings in the poignant track.
Remarkably, Charles wrote the song 13 years ago but feels its message is more relevant now than ever. “Baltimore often carries a negative connotation, but I wanted to create something beautiful for the people and the city,” he explained.
The release of “Back to Baltimore” marks a significant moment in Charles’ career, as he continues to honor his Maryland roots while making waves in the country music world.
