Devon Allman has unveiled “Miami Moon,” his first solo album in eight years, featuring an elite ensemble of studio musicians. The album boasts contributions from George Porter Jr. (The Meters) on bass, Ivan Neville (Keith Richards, Dumpstaphunk) on keyboards, Adam Deitch (Lettuce) on drums, Karl Denson (The Rolling Stones) on saxophone, and Jackson Stokes on guitar.

Recorded on 2″ analog tape at the renowned Criteria Studios in Miami, Florida—famed for its role in the creation of Layla and Eat a Peach—”Miami Moon” was produced by Grammy-winning producer Tom Hambridge (Buddy Guy, Chris “Kingfish” Ingram). Hambridge describes the album as a “masterpiece,” highlighting the exceptional skill and timeless feel brought to the project by the musicians involved.

Allman, reflecting on the process, shared insights into the album’s creation. “Working with these legendary musicians has been a career high point. They brought these songs to life with their masterful playing. This time around, writing the songs on bass guitar allowed the grooves to become the main focus. I also embraced influences like Curtis Mayfield, Sade, The Cure, and Steely Dan, which you can hear throughout the album. Recording in the same historic studio where my dad and Uncle Duane created their iconic records added to the experience. We kept it fun and funky—ordering Cuban food, watching the NBA, and jamming together for days. I’m grateful to have made this record in such a classic setting,” said Allman.
