Country music star Scotty McCreery interrupted his performance at the Colorado State Fair in Pueblo over the weekend to address an alleged assault that occurred in the audience. The incident took place on August 24, as McCreery was beginning to perform his song “It Matters to Her.”
In a video shared on Facebook, McCreery, who gained fame after winning “American Idol” in 2011, is seen halting his performance after just a few notes to call out a man in the crowd. “Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, right here. That’s a lady you just hit, sir,” McCreery said from the stage. “Absolutely not, who just hit the lady? Police? Security? Is she OK? Get the heck out of here.”
The Colorado Department of Agriculture spokesperson Olga Robak confirmed the assault in a statement to The Denver Post, noting that state fair security was involved in managing the situation. The video captures officials using flashlights to locate the alleged assailant within the crowd.
“Y’all let the cops know who hit the lady because that’s absolutely unacceptable,” McCreery emphasized to the audience.
The incident remains under investigation, and authorities are urging anyone with information to contact Colorado State Fair Security at [email protected]. No further details have been released at this time.
