Juicy J disclosed that he earns royalties from 90 percent of rap songs released today, thanks to the frequent sampling of his work and the music of Three 6 Mafia.

On the debut episode of SpringHill’s new show Two Ways About It, Juicy J, alongside Wiz Khalifa, discussed his influential role in contemporary rap. “I feel like the new trends are just old trends because everyone’s sampling Three 6 Mafia. I’m already in because we started the trends,” Juicy J explained, as reported by Vibe.

He elaborated, “On some real stuff, I get five to six samples a day. I get paid off of pretty much every song, like 90 percent of the songs that are out right now.”

Juicy J expressed appreciation for the continued admiration of his work. “It’s a blessing. I love when people sample,” he said. “I just approve, approve. Every time I get that email, I approve.”

His unique sound remains relevant, with recent popular tracks such as Drake’s “No Friends In The Industry,” A$AP Ferg’s “Plain Jane,” and Rae Sremmurd’s “Powerglide” sampling his music.

“I don’t feel the need to adapt to trends because today’s music often mirrors the flow of old Three 6 Mafia days, which I love. So, I just keep doing what I’ve been doing,” Juicy J added.

On August 27, Juicy J released his latest project, Ravenite Social Club, a jazz-influenced album. This 17-track LP is his first release since 2020’s The Hustle Continues. He hinted that this might be his final project for a while, tweeting, “I got about 7 albums I’m dropping in 2024. I’ve never worked this hard in my life. After this, I’m gonna buy a house on the beach, let my hair grow out, and become a full-time hippie.”

Juicy J, an Oscar winner, and Three 6 Mafia won the Academy Award for Best Original Song in 2005 for “It’s Hard out Here for a Pimp,” featured in the film Hustle & Flow, starring Terrence Howard.
