Post Malone has officially made his mark in the country music scene with the release of his first country album, F-1 Trillion, which dropped in August. The rapper, known for his genre-blending sound, was first seen collaborating with country artists last fall, leading up to his performance debut at the CMA Awards in November.
However, Malone’s interest in creating a country record has been brewing for nearly a decade. Music producer Charlie Handsome recently revealed on the Bobby Cast podcast that discussions about a country project for Malone began as early as 2015.
“We talked about doing a country album back then,” Handsome shared. “We even joked about his sixth album being country, saying he could pull a ‘reverse Taylor Swift’ and go from pop star to country artist.”
At the time, Malone hadn’t released his debut album yet, with Stoney arriving in 2016. But the conversation stuck with him, and when it came time to craft his sixth album, he knew exactly who to call. F-1 Trillion represents a long-time ambition for the artist, showcasing his versatility and evolving sound.
