As the country music community continues to grieve the loss of Toby Keith, a poignant new release offers a touching tribute to the late star. Seven months after Keith’s passing on February 5, 2024, his final recording has been unveiled, stirring deep emotions among fans.

On August 29, Big Loud Records’ HIXTAPE launched the official studio video for “Ships That Don’t Come In,” a collaboration between Keith and Luke Combs. The track is part of HIXTAPE: Vol. 3: DIFFTAPE, a 17-song collection celebrating the late Joe Diffie.

In a press release, Combs expressed his gratitude and emotion, saying, “Being on a song with Toby was a dream come true. Especially with it being one of Joe’s songs, it makes it even more special. Toby was there when I was inducted into the Opry, and I grew up listening to his music. It’s hard to put into words how significant this is, especially as Toby’s last recording.”

The release has resonated deeply with fans, who took to YouTube to share their heartfelt reactions. Comments ranged from tears and nostalgia to admiration for the emotional power of the song. One fan wrote, “This version gave me chills to the bone. Rest in peace, Toby; you did Joe Diffie proud.” Another commented, “Even in his condition, Toby’s voice was strong. The song brought tears to my eyes. God bless you, Toby.”

Toby Keith’s passing followed a 2.5-year battle with stomach cancer. His final recording serves as a powerful reminder of his enduring legacy in country music.
