Miranda Lambert recently shared insights into her journey from high school underdog to country music icon. During her 2020 performance at the American Airlines Center, Lambert recalled a pivotal moment from her youth, revealing, “I didn’t make cheerleader in high school. And I couldn’t play sports for s—.”
These early setbacks led Lambert to advocate for the creation of a choir at Lindale High School in East Texas—a move that ignited her passion for music. “In Texas, it’s ‘football or die,’ so getting into the choir was a big win for me,” she notes.
Now 40, Lambert has achieved remarkable success, amassing 39 Academy of Country Music Awards and preparing to receive the Country Icon Award at the People’s Choice Country Awards later this month. Her forthcoming album, Postcards From Texas, set for release on September 13, is expected to further enhance her impressive career. Co-produced with Jon Randall, the album continues Lambert’s tradition of celebrating her Texan roots and musical evolution.
