Country music legend Dwight Yoakam is once again teaming up with rapper-turned-country artist Post Malone, but fans are expressing mixed reactions to their latest collaboration. While Yoakam was one of the first country artists to partner with Malone, this new release has left some listeners disappointed.
Yoakam, who made his mark on the country scene in 1986 with his debut album Guitars, Cadillacs, Etc., Etc., continues to stay relevant nearly 40 years later. His 16th studio album, Brighter Days, is slated for release on November 15th.
The album consists of 14 tracks, 12 of which Yoakam either wrote or co-wrote. In addition, the album includes covers of “Keep On The Sunny Side” by The Carter Family and “Bound Away” by Cake.
One of the standout features of Brighter Days is the much-discussed collaboration with Post Malone, who recently transitioned into country music with his debut country album last month. Malone’s project includes collaborations with major artists such as Dolly Parton, Blake Shelton, and Hank Williams Jr. Despite the star-studded line-up, fans seem divided on Yoakam’s partnership with the rapper, fueling debate over the blend of country and hip-hop influences in modern music.
