Country music star and devoted Carolina Panthers fan Luke Combs has never been shy about sharing his frustrations with his beloved team—and after Week 1 of the 2024 NFL season, his disappointment is stronger than ever. The Panthers opened their season with a disastrous 47-10 defeat at the hands of the New Orleans Saints, leaving Combs and fellow fans disheartened.
The Panthers, under first-year head coach Dave Canales, struggled in all aspects of the game. The offense faltered, recording more turnovers (three) than third-down conversions (one), while the defense allowed a score on each of the Saints’ first nine drives. The lopsided loss marked a rough start to what many hoped would be a fresh beginning for the team.
Combs, known for his loyalty to the Panthers, has previously voiced his concerns over team decisions, including criticism of owner David Tepper and the trade of Pro Bowl pass rusher Brian Burns. After Sunday’s performance, he took to social media to vent once again, quipping, “Well, the good news is that there’s still 16 games to go. But, uh, the bad news is also that there’s still 16 games to go.”
It’s clear that both Combs and Panthers fans are bracing for what could be another long season.
