James Johnston has inked a deal with Warner Music Australia, with additional backing from Warner Nashville, and is marking the occasion with the release of his new single, “Blame.”
“Blame” is a dynamic track featuring a rock influence, harmonica riffs, and an energetic, stomping rhythm. The song, which Johnston describes as a dive bar anthem with a unique twist, reflects on the moment he first saw his wife, Talia.
“I knew from the minute she walked in the room, I was done,” Johnston shared in a press release. “I was playing in the house band when she requested a Keith Urban song. Watching her dance on the hardwood, I couldn’t take my eyes off her.”
Johnston also recounted Talia’s reaction when she first heard the song. “Talia is always honest with me, so I’m always a bit nervous to play her new music. But the day I wrote ‘Blame,’ I sent it to her while she was in Australia. She called me immediately and loved it.”
