Country music star Thomas Rhett has stirred controversy with a recent Instagram post. On September 12, Rhett, who is currently touring internationally, shared a photo of himself on a plane, showing his bare feet resting on the back of the seat in front of him. The image, meant to update his Edmonton, Canada, fans about his travels, quickly drew backlash from followers.
The photo incited a flurry of negative reactions in the comments. Fans expressed their disapproval, with one commenting, “Nooooooo feet on the seat,” and another comparing Rhett’s behavior to an unpleasant encounter with a fellow passenger. “Put (your) dogs away,” another urged.
Some fans defended Rhett, noting that he was likely on a private jet, where different etiquette norms might apply. “Folks, he’s flying privately. Stop telling him he isn’t respectful. He’s one of the most respectful men ever,” one supporter argued.
In response to the criticism, Rhett revealed that he had to ask his 25-year-old brother-in-law what “dawgs” referred to. “Y’all, I had no clue what ‘dawgs’ were,” Rhett admitted on social media. “So I asked my 25-year-old brother-in-law… feet.. got it. I’m just auditioning for my foot modeling career.”
To shift attention, Rhett later posted a nostalgic photo with his wife, Lauren, from their younger days.
