Rick Marshall pays homage to the legends of classic country with his latest single, “Classic Country (Rocks My World).” The track is a vibrant tribute to the genre’s foundational artists, featuring references to 33 iconic figures including Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, Kris Kristofferson, George Jones, and Tammy Wynette.
Clocking in at a brisk three minutes and twelve seconds, the song combines a driving snare drum with a dynamic slide guitar to deliver a high-energy salute to country music’s greats. Marshall’s lyrics reflect his deep reverence for the genre, celebrating the classic country artists whose music has shaped his own.
The inspiration for “Classic Country (Rocks My World)” came to Marshall during his days working construction in Ontario. He wrote the song while driving a bin truck, with only his thoughts and the vast stretches of road for company. “With not much on the radio, I would be left to my own devices,” Marshall recalls. “I’d sing the lines to myself over and over, waiting for the next one to arrive. By the end of a week’s driving, I had pretty much finished the song.”
Marshall’s deep connection to classic country shines through in this energetic tribute, solidifying his place among the genre’s passionate advocates.
