Lecrae made waves on social media with a surprise single-verse track that pays homage to Kendrick Lamar’s recent surprise release, often referred to by fans as “Watch the Party Die.”

In his Instagram post, Lecrae released a new verse that draws clear inspiration from Kendrick Lamar’s latest work. While Kendrick’s release was accompanied by an image of worn black Air Force 1s, Lecrae opted for a photo of slightly scuffed white Air Force 1s. He opened his verse with a direct nod to Kendrick’s recent mention of him, quoting Lamar’s question, “I wonder what Lecrae would do?”

In the 2:32 track, Lecrae delves into his personal experiences, addressing topics such as his struggle with Xanax addiction, his family’s connections to gang culture, and a desire for retribution against a drug dealer who harmed his cousin. He raps, “I was wrestling like, ‘Should I write a verse? The culture got enough clout chasin’ vultures out here, tryna prove they worth. They need attention. They can’t imagine me not tryna make myself look bigger off of this Kendrick mention.’”

The Instagram post has quickly gained traction, amassing over 940,000 views and 58,000 likes as of this writing.
