Riley Green has delivered a standout performance of Tim McGraw’s 2001 hit “The Cowboy in Me” as part of his Apple Music Sessions. This release also features reimagined versions of Green’s own singles “Jesus Saves” and “Worst Way.”
Green’s latest cover follows his rendition of McGraw’s “Damn Country Music” on his 2023 album Ain’t My Last Rodeo, a track praised as one of the highlights of the record.
“The Cowboy in Me,” written by Jeffrey Steele, Al Anderson, and Craig Wiseman, was originally released in November 2001 as the third single from McGraw’s Set This Circus Down album. The song reached #1 on the Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart, marking a historic moment as McGraw became the first artist to replace himself at the top of the country charts. This feat was only repeated recently when Morgan Wallen achieved back-to-back chart-toppers with “I Had Some Help” and “Cowgirls” in July.
