Cher has been announced as the headline performer for the revived Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, set to take place on October 15. This marks the brand’s first runway event in five years, featuring an all-female lineup of artists.
The news was confirmed on Tuesday via the official Victoria’s Secret Instagram account, which stated, “It’s a woman’s world, so it’s understood that you can’t have a fashion show without the mother of fashion herself—@Cher!” The post also hinted at additional performers to be revealed as the date approaches.
The showcase will be held at Victoria’s Secret’s flagship store in New York City and signifies a major comeback for the iconic brand. The fashion show, once a highly anticipated annual event, was known for its lavish displays featuring top models in lingerie and extravagant angel wings. However, the event was canceled in 2019 amid criticism regarding the brand’s lack of diversity and inclusivity.
In May, Victoria’s Secret announced the show’s return, acknowledging past feedback from fans. “We’ve read the comments and heard you,” the company wrote in a social media post. “The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show is back and will reflect who we are today, while incorporating everything you know and love—glamour, runway, wings, musical entertainment, and more. Stay tuned…it only gets more iconic from here.”
Returning models for the reboot include notable figures such as Gigi Hadid, Tyra Banks, and Candice Swanepoel. Cher joins a prestigious lineup of past performers that includes Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande, Ed Sheeran, Lady Gaga, and Selena Gomez.
