Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs was denied bail and remanded to jail once more on September 18. The rapper had initially been ordered to remain in a Brooklyn jail following his arraignment on September 17.

Combs’ legal team quickly appealed the bail denial, returning to court the following day. In a letter to a second judge, his lawyers characterized the conditions at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn as “horrific” and “not fit for pre-trial detention.”

In court, his defense proposed that Combs be allowed to live at home in Florida, monitored by a 24/7 security team that would oversee a pre-approved guest list. Combs offered to forgo access to his mobile phone and the internet, stating he would “do nothing but prepare for his trial,” according to his lawyer, Marc Agnifilo.

However, Judge Andrew L. Carter Jr. ruled that “there is no condition or combination of conditions to ensure he will not obstruct justice or tamper with witnesses.”

Dressed in the same black shirt and grey striped track pants he wore during his initial bail hearing, Combs reportedly lowered his head at the judge’s decision.

He faces multiple charges, including racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking by force, fraud or coercion, and transportation to engage in prostitution. Combs has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
