Country music fans are buzzing with excitement as two of the genre’s biggest stars, Carrie Underwood and Cody Johnson, prepare to release a highly anticipated duet. Titled I’m Gonna Love You, the track is set to drop on September 27, and early reactions suggest it could be an award contender.
Cody Johnson took to social media to announce the collaboration, sharing a sneak peek of the music video on Instagram. While the video doesn’t reveal much about the song itself, its brief preview has already sent chills through eager fans. Johnson expressed his enthusiasm, writing, “Thrilled to announce that I’m Gonna Love You is coming out next Friday, 9/27. Thank you, @carrieunderwood, for joining me on this one and making it so special. Can’t wait for y’all to hear it.”
Johnson also shared a short teaser of the song on social media platform X. The clip, which doesn’t yet feature Underwood’s vocals, includes the lyric, “Stars are gonna light up the midnight sky. The sun’s gonna burn on the 4th of July. Tides are gonna turn with the pull of the moon. And I’m gonna love you.”
Though the song may seem like a surprise to fans, it’s been in the works for some time. According to Taste of Country, Johnson originally planned to include it on his 2023 album Leather, but decided to save it for a yet-to-be-announced “part B” of the project.
With such anticipation surrounding I’m Gonna Love You, country music lovers are eagerly counting down the days until its release.
