After a lengthy hiatus, country outlaw Whitey Morgan has released his first new track in six years, delighting fans who have eagerly awaited his return. Known for his gritty sound and compelling storytelling, Morgan last dropped an album, Hard Times and White Lines, in 2018 with his band, The 78’s.
While Morgan isn’t known for being a prolific artist, his dedication to his craft is evident. Between a demanding touring schedule, perfecting his barbecue recipes, and parenting, he takes his music seriously. Recently, he has been working in the studio with Shooter Jennings, and fans can now enjoy the fruits of that collaboration with the release of “Let Me Roll.” This track captures Morgan’s signature road dog mentality, a hallmark of his music career.
Although a full album release date is not yet available, Morgan has hinted at expanding his sound, stating, “I can only do so many Drop ‘D’ fu–king half time songs.” Nevertheless, “Let Me Roll” stays true to what fans expect from Whitey Morgan and The 78’s.
In addition to his new single, Morgan has announced an upcoming performance at the iconic Ryman Auditorium on January 18, 2025, and anticipates releasing more new music by that date.
As one of the pioneers in the insurgent country music scene, Whitey Morgan’s return is a welcome development for fans and newcomers alike.
