Emerging country artist Nick Shoulders is making waves in the music industry with his refreshing honesty and distinct political views. Currently touring in Australia alongside Sierra Ferrell, The Lumineers, and Margo Cilker, Shoulders aims to reconnect American country music with its authentic roots from the 1920s southern and southwestern regions.
Like many of his generation, Shoulders initially distanced himself from the country music of his youth, opting to form a punk band. “I got majorly influenced by that music as a kid, but as a teenager I wanted nothing to do with that,” he reflected. However, his perspective shifted when he discovered the works of icons like Jimmy Rogers and the Carter Family, realizing that early country and blues were inherently rebellious, resonating with the spirit of the punk music he once embraced.
