Ray Charles, a transformative figure in the world of country music, is set to reissue five newly remastered albums through his own Tangerine Records. This collection, which includes four classic titles and one new compilation, highlights Charles’ significant role in breaking down musical boundaries.
The reissues kick off with the iconic 1962 albums Modern Sounds in Country and Western Music and Modern Sounds in Country and Western Music Vol. 2, available this Friday, September 27. Following these, fans can look forward to the rare 1965 album Country & Western Meets Rhythm & Blues and the 1966 release Crying Time on October 18, marking their first vinyl availability since their original pressings.
On November 15, a new compilation titled Best of Country & Western will also be released, featuring standout tracks from Charles’ country music repertoire. All albums will be available on vinyl, CD, and streaming platforms, allowing listeners to experience the roots of today’s country renaissance through Charles’ groundbreaking works.
