During an acoustic set at Nashville’s Skydeck on Broadway as part of the 107.5 River on the Rooftop concert series, Machine Gun Kelly welcomed a special guest to the stage on Tuesday night, September 24. In a surprise appearance, reigning CMA and ACM Entertainer of the Year Lainey Wilson joined him for a duet of “Lonely Road.”
As he called for her, MGK playfully asked the crowd, “I’m gonna need some help. Is my friend Lainey Wilson in here?” Wilson, who is signed to the same label as Jelly Roll—who was performing in Albany, N.Y. that evening—stepped in to deliver the second verse of the song. Her signature soulful drawl brought a fresh energy to the performance, highlighted by powerful high notes, especially during the song’s nod to John Denver’s classic “Take Me Home, Country Roads.” The collaboration was a memorable moment, showcasing the blending of genres in the heart of Music City.
