Shania Twain and Machine Gun Kelly Share Heartfelt Moment at PCCAs

Emotions ran high at the People’s Choice Country Awards on September 26, as Machine Gun Kelly found himself starstruck by none other than Shania Twain.

Just before the show concluded, Machine Gun Kelly took the stage to perform “Lonely Road,” a collaboration with Jelly Roll that reimagines the classic John Denver hit, “Country Roads, Take Me Home.”

After the performance, Twain, who hosted the event, greeted him with a warm hug, exclaiming, “That was awesome! I just love you.” Machine Gun Kelly responded, “Love you back!” Twain also shared that the song is among her all-time favorites, though it was unclear whether she was referring to the new version or the original.

As the show was wrapping up, Machine Gun Kelly unexpectedly returned to the stage after beginning to walk away. Twain, initially surprised, asked him, “Are you going to sing with me?” Instead, he leaned into her microphone and revealed, “When I was growing up, your face was always in my dad’s car, that album cover — it was always there.”

This heartfelt moment delighted both Twain and the audience. “Stay with me while I stand here and say goodnight to everyone,” Twain suggested, and after bidding farewell, she hugged Machine Gun Kelly again as the credits rolled.

Fans took to social media to express their feelings about the touching encounter. One user tweeted, “The way he just had to go back and shoot his shot with THE @ShaniaTwain and tell her how her face was always on his dad’s car dashboard.” Another added, “MGK AND SHANIA TWAIN OH MY HEART.”
