Beyoncé Goes Home Empty-Handed from People’s Choice Country Awards, Shaboozey Offers Tribute

by Barbara

Beyoncé entered the People’s Choice Country Awards with an impressive 17 nominations but left the ceremony without a single win. Despite this setback, the Houston native garnered more nominations than any other woman, trailing only Zach Bryan, who led with 19.

Her nominations included categories such as People’s Artist, Female Artist, Album, and Song of 2024, reflecting the success of her album “Cowboy Carter,” one of the year’s bestsellers, following only Taylor Swift and Billie Eilish.

During the event, Beyoncé received a shout-out from Shaboozey, the winner of the New Artist Award, who thanked her onstage, stating, “Thank you, Beyoncé. You’re amazing.” Shaboozey is featured on two tracks from “Cowboy Carter,” which marked his debut entries on the Billboard Hot 100.

Following the ceremony, Shaboozey’s co-manager Jared Cotter revealed that the release of his solo single “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” was expedited to capitalize on the “Beyoncé Bounce,” a nod to the impact of Beyoncé’s presence. The single later topped both the Billboard Hot 100 and Hot Country Songs charts, making history as the first time two Black artists led the latter chart consecutively.

Released in March, “Cowboy Carter” was partly inspired by the backlash against Beyoncé’s 2016 performance of “Daddy Lessons” with The Chicks at the Country Music Association Awards. The album made history as the first by a Black woman to reach the top of Billboard’s Country Albums chart.

In addition to her music ventures, Beyoncé has been in the spotlight for her collaboration with Levi’s and her current projects, including the Cécred hairline and SirDavis whisky.
