Nashville-based country trio Old Hickory has released their latest single, “Better Than You,” now available on all major platforms. Co-written by band members Timothy Baker and Andy Austin alongside Brinley Addington, the song is a heartfelt tribute to love, likening the intensity of a relationship to the thrill of a first drag of a cigarette and the warmth of bourbon on the lips.
This marks the trio’s first release since their debut album, Tuesday Nights At Scoreboard, launched last year. With a timeless sound that aims to revive classic country music elements, Old Hickory blends harmony-driven influences from the past with a fresh, modern style that distinguishes them in today’s music scene.
“‘Better Than You’ has been one of our favorite songs to play live since it was written,” said Baker. “We had so much fun bringing it to life in the studio, and we are incredibly excited for it to be out in the world!”
The lyrics reflect a deep, almost addictive love, asserting that no breathtaking view or beloved song can compare to the joy of being with the one they love. The track encapsulates the notion that this romance provides an unparalleled high and sense of fulfillment.
