Born Hubert Neal McGaughey Jr. on July 30, 1958, in Jacksonville, Texas, McCoy has roots in both Irish and Filipino heritage and has been a prominent figure in country music since the early 1990s.
McCoy’s career launched as an opening act for country legend Charley Pride, and he later gained widespread recognition with hits like “Billy’s Got His Beer Goggles On,” which reached the Top 10 on the Hot Country Songs chart in 2005. He founded his own record label, 903 Music, in 2004, although it faced bankruptcy in 2007.
In addition to his musical achievements, McCoy has made an impact with his live performances, including the release of the concert DVD “Neal McCoy Live” in 2006, which showcases 14 of his greatest hits.
