Eric Church has announced the postponement of his SiriusXM concert due to devastating flooding in his native North Carolina, a region he deeply cherishes. Following Hurricane Helene’s impact over the weekend, many mountain towns in western North Carolina have been cut off from essential services, including power and running water.
Church, who recorded his 2021 album “Heart & Soul” in the mountains, expressed his sorrow on social media, stating, “I’m devastated by the destruction… These are our family members, friends, and neighbors.” He emphasized the dire situation in the community, with many individuals still stranded and in urgent need of assistance.
The concert, originally scheduled for Monday, September 30, at his Nashville bar, Chief’s, has been rescheduled for Tuesday, November 19. Church urged fans to support relief efforts by directing them to the Red Cross. “To all the families and first responders, you are in our prayers,” he added. Since making landfall in Florida, Hurricane Helene has caused extensive flooding and landslides across the southeastern U.S., leading to over 60 fatalities.
