The Island Hopper Songwriter Festival will continue its celebration of country music at the Pink Shell Beach Resort, undeterred by Hurricane Helene. Although Friday’s performances on Fort Myers Beach were canceled due to storm concerns, the festival is set to resume on Saturday and Sunday, featuring a vibrant lineup of artists at various local venues.

The highlight of the weekend will be a performance by country star Scotty McCreery, known for hits such as “I Love You This Big,” “Five More Minutes,” and “The Trouble With Girls.” McCreery, who gained fame as the winner of American Idol’s 10th season in 2011, will perform at the Marina Pool Party on Sunday.

Despite the recent storm surge, dozens of musicians are slated to take the stage at restaurants, hotels, and other venues across Fort Myers Beach this weekend. Miriam Dotson, communications manager for the Lee County Visitor and Convention Bureau, expressed excitement about the festival, especially as it marks its 10th anniversary. The bureau, in partnership with BMI, has curated a lineup featuring both local talent and Nashville artists.

This year’s festival will primarily showcase country music, while also incorporating a mix of other genres. Returning acts include local musician Sheena Brook and the British group Essex County, among others.
