Rising country star Dylan Marlowe is making waves with the release of his debut album, Mid-Twenties Crisis. The Georgia native, whose journey to stardom began only a few years ago, has quickly climbed the charts with his unique sound and a top 25 single, “Boys Back Home,” featuring Dylan Scott.
Marlowe’s musical path started during college when he discovered his ability to sing and write songs. In an interview with Audacy’s Katie Neal, Marlowe explained how he first picked up a guitar from a neighbor. “I’ve always been a competitive person,” he said. “I started learning guitar, writing songs, and doing open mic nights. Once I realized I could do this, I took vocal lessons and really started digging in.”
Marlowe’s transition from college baseball player to country singer was swift. Encouraged by his parents to pursue his passion, he left college after one year to chase his music dreams. “My dad told me, ‘If you want to do music, there’s no point in me paying for you to stay in college.’ So, I moved to Nashville and met Dallas Davidson, who signed me, and we’ve been going ever since,” Marlowe shared.
At 27, Marlowe’s career has progressed rapidly. His debut album, Mid-Twenties Crisis, features 15 tracks showcasing his self-described “chaotic” sound, which blends traditional country with punk and rock influences. “Someone on TikTok said my song sounds like Blink-182 went down to Georgia and drank some moonshine,” Marlowe laughed. “I love that.”
While collaborations with artists like Riley Green on “Stick to My Guns” and Dylan Scott on “Boys Back Home” have drawn attention, Marlowe’s solo tracks, including “Devil on My Shoulder,” “Heart Brakes,” and the title track “Mid-Twenties Crisis,” are making a big impact as well.
The title track, which Marlowe wrote at the last minute, became a deeply personal addition to the album. “I didn’t have a title for the record, and I’d been praying about it,” he explained. “One night at 4 a.m., it just popped into my head. That weekend, I wrote the song in the back of the bus. It’s an honest, vulnerable song about what I’ve been going through.”
With Mid-Twenties Crisis now available, Marlowe is gearing up for a bright future. He’s currently touring with Dan + Shay and continuing to carve out his place in the country music scene, blending raw emotion and authenticity with his energetic, chaotic sound.
