American Idol champion Scotty McCreery, alongside fellow country artists, is enthusiastically welcoming the influx of new talent into the genre. Speaking exclusively to Us Weekly at the 2024 People’s Choice Country Awards on September 26, McCreery, 30, expressed his excitement, stating, “I love it! I’m an old school kind of guy, so I appreciate the traditional sound, but it’s wonderful to see country music under such a bright spotlight. More people than ever want to be part of it.”
The rise of artists like Post Malone, Machine Gun Kelly, and Beyoncé, who have recently achieved success with their country-influenced tracks, has further fueled this enthusiasm. McCreery believes that this trend introduces new fans to country music, potentially leading them to discover classic legends like George Jones and Merle Haggard. “I think folks that weren’t country fans can hear these new artists doing this and maybe they’ll find out about the greats,” he remarked. “To me, that’s a win.”
