Mickey Guyton is embracing a transformative era in country music, asserting that “country music is for everyone.” The 41-year-old artist has been a pioneering force in the genre, notably becoming the first Black woman to co-host the Academy of Country Music Awards in 2021 and the first Black woman solo artist to receive a Grammy nomination in a country category.
In a recent interview, Guyton expressed her excitement about the evolving landscape of country music, highlighting the impact of diverse artists like Beyoncé and Shaboozey breaking through in an industry historically dominated by white performers. “There’s a country music renaissance happening,” she stated, pointing to her recent collaboration with Anthropologie on a Western-themed pop-up event in New York City.
