Over the long weekend, the historic grounds of Jimbour House on the Western Downs came alive as more than 2,500 rock and country music fans flocked to the annual Big Skies Festival. Attendees traveled from various parts of Queensland, including Brisbane, the Gold Coast, and the Sunshine Coast, eager to enjoy a weekend filled with entertainment in the picturesque countryside.

The festival, which kicked off on Thursday, October 3, featured a diverse lineup of artists, including The Screaming Jets, Brad Cox, Killing Heidi, Kaylee Bell, Deborah Conway, and Mick Lindsay. Local talents such as Pete Cullen & the Hurt, Faleepo Francisco, The Charlie Nolan Band, and The 78 Sound also graced the stage.

Western Downs Regional Council Mayor Cr. Andrew Smith praised the festival, calling it one of the region’s most beloved events. “Now in its fifth year, it is more than just a music festival; it’s an immersive experience showcasing the unique attractions, vast blue skies, and vibrant communities that make the Western Downs an exciting destination,” he said.
