Kendrick Lamar’s hit single “Not Like Us” has made history by achieving its 21st consecutive week at No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot Rap Songs chart, surpassing Lil Nas X’s iconic “Old Town Road” featuring Billy Ray Cyrus. This milestone marks the longest-running track atop the chart in its 35-year history, which dates back to its inception in 1989.
Released on May 4, “Not Like Us” emerged amid a highly publicized feud between Lamar and fellow rapper Drake. The song’s record-breaking success is attributed to its strong performance across streaming, sales, and radio airplay metrics.
In the latest tracking week, which ended on October 3, the single garnered an impressive 17.1 million official U.S. streams, earning it a 20th week at No. 1 on the Rap Streaming Songs chart. This achievement ties it with “Old Town Road” for the third-longest reign among all songs in history. The all-time record is held by Desiigner’s “Panda” and Psy’s “Gangnam Style,” each of which maintained their top positions for 23 weeks.
In terms of sales, “Not Like Us” recorded 2,000 downloads in the most recent tracking week, despite a 10% drop from the previous week. This decline did not hinder its ascent to No. 3 on the Rap Digital Song Sales chart, where it had previously held the top spot for nine nonconsecutive weeks.
The track also continues to resonate with radio audiences, landing at No. 7 on the all-genre Radio Songs chart with a total of 45.4 million audience impressions, despite a 3% decrease. This summer, “Not Like Us” dominated the R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart for 15 nonconsecutive weeks, solidifying Lamar’s impact on the genre.
