Zimbabwean-born, London-raised singer-songwriter Ashleigh Bankx has released her latest single, Miss You, following her earlier track How Far. This new song blends afropop rhythms with UK R&B and soul influences, creating a lush soundscape of emotive guitar riffs and hypnotic drum grooves. Miss You is a poignant exploration of love and heartbreak, with Bankx delivering lines like, “I don’t wanna see your face but I miss you / I keep running back the times when I miss you,” capturing the raw struggle of letting go.
Bankx’s unique sound is shaped by a diverse musical background. Initially influenced by Zimbabwean gospel, Afro jazz, and sungura—a genre featuring layered guitar melodies—she later embraced R&B, soul, pop, and hip-hop after moving to the UK as a child. She began making music in 2020, shortly after earning a law degree from Brunel University in London.
Though Miss You is not yet tied to a larger project, it hints at the potential for an EP or album from the rising star.
