Get ready for an explosive night of rock as tribute band NZ/DC takes the stage at Smash Palace this week, delivering a full setlist of AC/DC’s iconic hits.
Lead guitarist Dan Cosgrove shared his excitement for the performance, stating, “It’s the sort of show I need to warm up for.” This marks the band’s fourth appearance in Gisborne since its formation six years ago, and Cosgrove is eager to return, noting that past shows in the area have attracted large audiences and generated incredible energy.
The inspiration for Cosgrove’s passion for AC/DC traces back to his childhood, sparked by hearing “Thunderstruck.” For this show, he will channel his inner Angus Young, donning a new schoolboy uniform complete with a cap, shorts, and tie, while executing Young’s signature stage stomp and duckwalk.
NZ/DC’s setlist will feature a blend of classic anthems such as “Thunderstruck,” “Back in Black,” “Hells Bells,” and “Highway to Hell,” alongside some fresh additions to their performance.
The band consists of talented members, including Dan Gordon on bass, Isaac Pethybridge on rhythm guitar, Bruci Jordan as lead vocalist, and Jeremy Badgeron on drums. Together, they pay homage to AC/DC, the pioneers of heavy metal.
When not on stage emulating one of the world’s top-ranked guitarists, Cosgrove serves as a full-time guitar teacher at a primary school in Hamilton. His fellow bandmates include a diverse mix of musicians, teachers, a civil engineer, and an accountant.
This weekend, they will set aside their day jobs to unleash the infectious hard rock energy of AC/DC on Gisborne audiences, promising a night to remember.
