2024 has already been a remarkable year for Kendrick Lamar, who released one of the year’s biggest hip-hop tracks, “Not Like Us,” in May. The excitement continues to build, especially with news of his upcoming headlining performance at Super Bowl LIX.
On Sunday, October 13, SZA reignited rumors about a new Kendrick album by sharing a tweet from TDE affiliate Devin Malik on her Instagram. The tweet read, “Mood ‘cause new K. Dot album [is on the way].”
While Malik has not worked directly with Lamar, he has contributed production to tracks for artists such as Isaiah Rashad, ScHoolboy Q, Ab-Soul, and Doechii. SZA, on the other hand, collaborated with Lamar on the Grammy-nominated “All The Stars” and the 2017 track “Doves in the Wind.”
As of now, Kendrick Lamar has not officially confirmed the rumors surrounding his next project. His latest release, speculatively titled Watch The Party Die, dropped unexpectedly on Instagram in September. It wouldn’t be unusual for him to release an album around the time of the Super Bowl, as Usher did with his album COMING HOME during the halftime show weekend in 2024.
“Rap music is still the most impactful genre to date,” Lamar stated ahead of the Super Bowl, scheduled for February 9, 2025, in New Orleans. He added, “And I’ll be there to remind the world why. They got the right one.”
JAY-Z praised Lamar, calling him “a once-in-a-generation artist and performer,” noting his profound love for hip-hop and its culture. “Kendrick’s work transcends music, and his impact will be felt for years to come,” JAY-Z emphasized.
Lamar’s last album, Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers, was released in 2022 and won Best Rap Album at the 2023 Grammy Awards.
