Indie pop sensation Japanese Breakfast has collaborated with renowned producer Jack Antonoff for a new version of “The Ballad of the Witches’ Road,” featured in Marvel’s hit series Agatha All Along. The song, which aligns with the show’s spooky Halloween vibe, offers a mellowed, soulful rendition from the typically energetic band, showcasing their versatility in adapting to the eerie, magical theme of the series.

Written by Disney stalwarts Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, the track has been released in multiple versions, each tailored to different audiences. While versions performed by the cast, including the “Sacred Chant” and “Cover” versions, stay true to the show’s haunting atmosphere, the “Pop Version” by Japanese Breakfast stands out with its lo-fi electronic beat and captivating vocals. Jack Antonoff, frontman of Bleachers, co-produced the track, bringing his signature touch to the production.

Disney is clearly banking on the song’s success, with other versions like the “True Crime Version” by Matthew Mayfield and Seo Moon Tak’s “Lorna Wu Version” adding further layers of creativity. However, Japanese Breakfast’s collaboration with Antonoff has drawn significant attention for its unique blend of indie pop and atmospheric sounds, making it a standout track in the Agatha All Along soundtrack.

The collaboration between these two acclaimed artists has proven to be a dynamic pairing, as the haunting “Pop Version” breathes new life into the ballad while fitting seamlessly into the show’s magical, witchy world.
