The Cornelia Dozier Cooper Theatre at the Center for Rural Development will come alive this Saturday, October 26, as country music icon Doug Stone takes the stage for the final performance of his farewell tour.
Stone, who made his debut in 1990 with the hit single “I’d Be Better Off (in a Pine Box),” has enjoyed a prolific career, charting 26 singles on the Hot Country Songs charts. His peak years, from 1990 to 1995, saw him achieve eight No. 1 hits, including classics like “In a Different Light,” “A Jukebox with a Country Song,” “Too Busy Being in Love,” and “Why Didn’t I Think of That.” Renowned for his neotraditionalist sound and heartfelt ballads, Stone has left a lasting impact on the genre.
“We’re excited and honored to host Doug Stone this Saturday on his farewell tour,” said Chris Tilley, the new Concert Director at the Center Theatre. “His music and style have inspired countless artists over the years, and he brings a unique, legendary touch to country music.”
Tickets for the concert are priced at $40 and can be purchased online or by calling the box office, Monday through Friday. Tickets will also be available for purchase on the night of the show. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., with the performance set to begin at 7:30 p.m. Concessions will be offered during the event.
