Masked Dead Records and Sulphur Music Unveil Compilation Album

Metal music has long been known for its ability to foster community, and this spirit of unity is on full display with the upcoming compilation album Voces Antiqui Sanguinis. Released by Masked Dead Records and Sulphur Music, the album features four of Italy’s premier black metal bands and is set to launch on Halloween.

Each band contributes two new tracks, showcasing a blend of unique dialects and indigenous Italian languages in their music. The album is exclusively paired with a special issue of Sulphur Fanzine titled Linguas Diaboli, which focuses entirely on the role of dialect and local languages in black metal.

What makes this compilation particularly compelling is the diversity among the participating bands. STRJA performs in Veronese, the dialect of Verona, while TICINUM sings in Pavese, the dialect of Pavia. KRE^U uses Barbaricino, the native language of Sardinia’s Barbagia region, and VRIM delivers their music in Piemontese, a minority language of Piedmont.

This release not only highlights the richness and versatility of heavy metal but also underscores the subtle regional differences that may go unnoticed by listeners. Voces Antiqui Sanguinis is a testament to the power of metal in bridging cultures, regions, and communities.
