Rising alt-pop artist Dela Kay has released her latest single, “The One,” a poignant exploration of the struggles of maintaining a relationship while acknowledging the need to let go. Co-written with her friend and producer Stefano Pigliapoco, the track features a 2000s pop-rock vibe reminiscent of Avril Lavigne, marked by hard-hitting instrumentals and emotionally charged lyrics.
“The One” serves as Dela’s first release since her debut EP, Falling Into Place, which launched in July. Drawing inspiration from alternative icons like Paramore, Maggie Lindemann, The Maine, and Avril Lavigne, Dela fuses her alt-rock influences with her Nashville roots to create a powerful pop-rock anthem.
The song is driven by gritty guitar riffs and a punchy drumbeat, capturing the emotional turmoil of a love that couldn’t be salvaged despite significant effort. As the final chorus unfolds into a stripped-down acoustic arrangement, Dela brings herself back to earth, ultimately finding peace with the decision to move on.
