Legendary psychedelic rock band Mercury Rev is set to bring their acclaimed live performance to North America in 2025, following the release of their new studio album, Born Horses, via Bella Union, which has garnered positive reviews across the industry.
Currently touring overseas, the band will kick off their North American leg on February 24 in Vancouver, with additional stops planned in major cities including New York City, Los Angeles, Seattle, Boston, and Washington, D.C.
Recently praised by Pitchfork with a score of 9.3 for their 1991 classic Yerself Is Steam, Mercury Rev has long been celebrated for their experimental artistry and willingness to challenge musical conventions. Their latest album, Born Horses, blends psych-jazz, folk, baroque, and ambient influences, showcasing sophisticated instrumentation alongside their signature indie rock sound.
The album draws vocal inspiration from art minimalist Tony Conrad and beat poet Robert Creeley, both influential figures in progressive thought who taught at the University at Buffalo, where the band originated. Born Horses reflects the band’s quest for new poetic perspectives and artistic expression.
